Este espectro de luz vis\u00edvel existe na luz natural (sol) e na luz artificial, particularmente nas l\u00e2mpadas LED. Hoje j\u00e1 existem solu\u00e7\u00f5es t\u00e9cnicas que permitem adquirir lentes oft\u00e1lmicas com um \u201cfiltro azul\u201d, seja incorporado no tratamento anti-reflexo, seja incorporado no pr\u00f3prio material da lente, que tem como objectivo\u00a0 reduzir este efeito t\u00f3xico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Ser\u00e1 que toda a luz azul \u00e9 t\u00f3xica e deve ser filtrada?<\/h6>\n<p><strong>A resposta \u00e9 n\u00e3o!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O espectro de luz azul entre os 465 e os 495 nm (azul-turquesa) \u00e9 at\u00e9 essencial e tem um efeito positivo na nossa sa\u00fade [1]. \u00c9 a \u201cboa\u201d luz azul, tamb\u00e9m designada como \u201cluz cronobiol\u00f3gica\u201d, que regula nosso ritmo circadiano.<\/p>\n<p>Todos n\u00f3s precisamos de fazer um reset di\u00e1rio ao nosso rel\u00f3gio biol\u00f3gico para sermos capazes de sincronizar o nosso ritmo biol\u00f3gico. O nosso rel\u00f3gio biol\u00f3gico transmite para v\u00e1rias partes do corpo, como f\u00edgado, m\u00fasculos, cora\u00e7\u00e3o e rins. Todas as fun\u00e7\u00f5es biol\u00f3gicas precisam funcionar no momento certo. Como o nosso rel\u00f3gio biol\u00f3gico impulsiona esse ritmo espec\u00edfico, este garante que determinadas fun\u00e7\u00f5es estejam activas no momento certo.<\/p>\n<p>A luz age na retina atrav\u00e9s da ac\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas espec\u00edficas \u2013 c\u00e9lulas ganglionares contendo melanopsina \u2013 que s\u00e3o diferentes dos cones e bastonetes que s\u00e3o os fotorreceptores usados na vis\u00e3o. Quando essas c\u00e9lulas ganglionares s\u00e3o activadas pela luz azul, elas transmitem um sinal nervoso que corre ao longo do\u00a0 nervo \u00f3ptico e, em vez de activar as estruturas visuais no c\u00e9rebro, activa estruturas n\u00e3o-visuais, como o nosso rel\u00f3gio circadiano interno. Este leva \u00e0 morte por apoptose no primeiro est\u00e1gio de c\u00e9lulas epiteliais pigmentares da retina e, em seguida, dos foto-receptores. Esse processo lento, no qual o dano se acumula ao longo da vida, tem sido implicado na patog\u00e9nese das doen\u00e7as degenerativas da retina, como a degenera\u00e7\u00e3o macular relacionada\u00a0 \u00e0 idade (DMRI). [2]<br \/>\nO facto de que a luz azul ser, em simult\u00e2neo, tanto ben\u00e9fica quanto t\u00f3xica coloca um desafio importante. Ser\u00e1 que podemos proteger os olhos da luz azul nociva sem os privar da luz azul fisiologicamente necess\u00e1ria? A solu\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o pode ser\u00a0 bloquear\/filtrar a 100% todo o espectro de luz azul, algo que, do ponto de vista t\u00e9cnico, seria at\u00e9 relativamente f\u00e1cil de atingir. A solu\u00e7\u00e3o ter\u00e1 de passar por atenuar os comprimentos de onda prejudiciais.
