Today, 20 December 2023, is International Human Solidarity Day, a date with special significance for Prooptica.

Prooptica has always been concerned with social causes that support the everyday needs of millions of people around the world. We feel that it is extremely important for companies to mobilise, helping organisations and projects that contribute to the eradication of poverty and to human and sustainable development.

Not just at Christmas, but every day, Prooptica's vision and values are centred on the voluntary integration of social and environmental concerns.

Throughout the year Prooptica supported various social organisations, which have been part of our family for some time, such as the Artist's House, New Future, Sol Association, Cova do Mar, Amália Foundation, Legion of Good Will and Tax generation. In February we signed a cooperation protocol with a new organisation, the Bethany Home, a Private Social Solidarity Institution that provides residential care for children and young people removed from situations of danger and/or without adequate family support.

In March and December we carried out two visual diagnosis screenings, which included offering lenses and frames to people at socio-economic risk in the municipality of Odemira. These actions, carried out under the Cooperation Protocol with the Brejão Cultural Centre and our partnership with the Amália Rodrigues Foundation, also count on the kind collaboration of Prolente.

This year we went one step further and prepared two very special moments for us. On Women's Day, Prooptica organised a donation of essential goods to the Betânia Home, which takes in female children and young people at risk. And this Christmas, each member of the Prooptica team bought a Christmas present for the children of Associação sol, an organisation that supports children and young people infected with the AIDS virus.

It's a real source of pride to be able to help improve the day-to-day lives of so many people, always with the feeling and certainty that we will continue to provide comfort to those who need it most.
