World Book and Copyright Day | The Importance of Reading
Book Day is a special occasion celebrated with enthusiasm, with reference to the written word. This date, which falls on 23 April, is a tribute to the literary legacy left by great Portuguese and foreign authors.
The choice of 23 April to celebrate Book Day has a symbolic meaning. This date coincides with the anniversary of the death of two giants of world literature: William Shakespeare and Miguel Cervantes, two writers whose works profoundly influenced Portuguese and universal literature.
This day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of reading in cultural and intellectual formation, and to exercise the imagination, since through books we can travel to distant places and get to know new cultures without leaving the same place.
When reading, it's important to use the appropriate means of vision correction if necessary, for better visual comfort. There is an endless range of models of reading glasses, frames designed specifically for greater comfort in this practice and lenses designed to correct near vision, suitable for reading.
May this Book Day be an opportunity for all Portuguese to indulge in the fascination of books, discovering new worlds and enriching their lives through reading, using the appropriate means of visual correction that provide them with clear and comfortable vision.
